Fibromuscular Dysplasia Presenting as Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection

Submit Manuscript | http://medcraveonline.com with a Troponin-I of 26 ng/ml. Emergent left heart catheterization was performed and did not reveal any obstructive coronary artery disease, yet the ostium of the right coronary was thought to have spasm and non-selective injection was performed without revealing any obvious abnormality. Hence, a Computerized Tomography (CT) aortography of the chest...

Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection.

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a non-traumatic and non-iatrogenic separation of the coronary artery wall that is now recognised as an important cause of myocardial infarction, especially in younger women. SCAD can be elusive on coronary angiography and clinician familiarity with non-pathognomonic angiographic SCAD variants and the use of intracoronary imaging will improve diag...

Six-Vessel Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection and Vertebral Artery Dissection in Fibromuscular Dysplasia

Fibromuscular dysplasia is a non-inflammatory and non-atherosclerotic arteriopathy commonly affecting medium-size renal, carotid, and vertebral arteries. Involvement of the coronary artery is very rare but may cause life-threatening spontaneous dissection. Because it is rare, this disease may go unrecognized. A unique angiographic finding of non-coronary arteries can make an early diagnosis, an...

Angiographic and Intracoronary Manifestations of Coronary Fibromuscular Dysplasia.

BACKGROUND We previously described a strong association between fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) and spontaneous coronary artery dissection. Angiographic manifestations of coronary FMD aside from dissection were considered rare. However, we observed several coronary FMD angiographic abnormalities with corresponding optical coherence tomography abnormalities. METHODS AND RESULTS Baseline demograp...

Renal artery fibromuscular dysplasia: in vivo optical coherence tomography insights.

A 66-year-old woman with long-term essential hypertension presentedwith poorly controlled bloodpressure in spiteof six antihypertensive drugs. Percutaneous renal denervation was indicated as a treatment of resistant arterial hypertension. Renal angiography showed ‘strings of beads’ appearance characteristic of fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) in the mid-segment of the right renal artery (Panel A)....
